Date Night

Well, I actually did it. I bit the bullet and hired a baby-sitter for last night so Johnny and I could go out!! (which is really sad, if you think about all of his family that's around, but that's a story for another time). Anywho, I got my house all cleaned up yesterday and then took a shower, got dressed and put my make-up on, all the way down to lipstick. Did you get that people?? LIPSTICK!! ME!! Now if you don't know me all that well, you won't get that, but for those of you who do know me, you know that is not something that I normally do. So, needless to say I thought I was lookin' p.r.e.t.t.y. good! I even asked Cheyenne how I looked and she said, "Good!" Well, that lasted about 45 minutes. That is, until the babysitter got here. Her mom was kind enough to bring her over so I wouldn't have to load the kids up and go get her, but I'm thinkin' I may just want to take that extra step to save myself some frustration. As SOON as she saw me, she said, "Well, your belly is really starting to protrude." PROTRUDE people!!!! Who tells a pregnant woman that?!?! I'll tell you who! The same woman that had the nerve to tell me at 15 weeks that I was looking a little FAT. (and that's after losing 16 pounds! What did she think BEFORE!?!? ((shudder)) I don't even want to know!) Oh well, I just laughed and replied, "oh, no, that's just something I've had ever since Travis was born! :-]" And she said, "Oh! Well, I guess I should say a little fatt-ER." Now isn't she just a little piece of sunshine on a rainy day?!

Well, I tried hard not to think about it too much and when I saw Johnny he erased all my doubts! "Wow! You look really good!" Ah, just what I needed to hear. Thanks honey! You're the best! I don't think it hurt that ALL maternity clothes are a little low cut and this particular shirt already had an undershirt so I didn't bother with another one, but guys will be guys and he told me what I needed to hear, so all's well that ends well!

All of that to say this: I had a great time (even though I was exhausted from the day and I'm afraid I wasn't very entertaining company, but hey, the shirt was low-cut, so I think he was okay with the quiet! LOL)! It was so nice to be able to get out of the house without my beloved children along asking a million and one questions all the way to town or arguing about something or ... just being kids. It was just what I needed after 3 very long weeks with them and without my husband around much. Hopefully things will get into more of a predictable routine again after next week, but if not, I have my once a week date night to look forward to. (Mind you, I'm not sure about the whole 'mom dropping the baby-sitter off' thing, but we'll work through that too!) It would be different if she could just drop her off and LEAVE, but she's not that type. She has to come in and 'investigate' or something. Basically just be nosey. Oh and provide all of the encouragement she can!! Who wouldn't look forward to a weekly visit from my real life 'Rachel Lind'?!

Have a blessed weekend y'all. I'm gonna see if I can't find me a wheel barrow to haul my belly in for the next 3 1/2 months!

Pregnancy Etiquette

For those of you who don't know, there are a few things that you should NEVER ask or say to a pregnant woman! I was so fortunate to have this conversation with a lady yesterday while I was feeling pretty good and able to be out and do some shopping:

She: OOOH! I just love your belly! (pat, pat)

Me: Why thanks!

She: When are you due again?

Me: The middle of August. August 16th.

She: Really? WOW! (thing #1) That's a REALLY long ways off!

Me: (shrug) Tell me about it!!

She: (examining my belly a little closer) (thing #2) Are you sure it's not TWINS??

Me: Yeah, we're pretty sure it's just one.

She: Wow, I would get it checked if I were you to make sure.

Me: We did that already and there was only one. :-]

She: Wow. If it was me, I'd get it checked again. I think you might be carrying twins!

Me: Thanks. They said that about Travis too, though.

She: Oh, well, do you have big babies then?

Me: No, not really.

She: (looking my belly over one more time) Hmm. Wow!

It was a LOVELY start to my shopping experience! :-) That's okay though, she wasn't the only one to mention 'how much the baby's grown this past week'. I heard it about 5 times at church too. Now, I can see how some people may want to go to church to be uplifted and encouraged, but not me. I like it when people tell me how fat (actual word used) I've gotten or how I won't be wearing my old clothes much longer, or how BIG my baby is getting!! It is such an inspiration and makes me want to keep going back for more. Let's see, I have 48 more opportunities to be blessed by such lovely compliments, but hey, who's counting!! And that's only the ones from church. Who knows how many times I'll be blessed to run into this particular person again. OOO I can't wait to find out!!!

P.S. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be posting any of those pictures y'all were wanting!! :-}

Bless Her Heart!

My dear Cheyenne was being such a wonderful help last night and since I've been in bed most of the week I asked her to try to clean up the kitchen some. Mostly just unloading and loading the dishwasher. Upon coming into the kitchen this morning, I was beginning to wonder WHAT exactly she had done. But nonetheless her efforts make me proud to be her mommy.

Yes, there is still egg on the pan and the water in the bowl is red due to an apparently unnoticed cherry left in it, although I'm not altogther certain how that bowl and the bigger one got turned over completely!! (SHRUG)

Happy Birthday Beau

I am actually pregnant with my 4th child!! My Beau is baby number 3 in this family and his birthday was yesterday. I just thought I'd post some updated pictures of him for all to see. He's getting big, but still not done growing!

This is the day after we got him. He was 8 weeks old and weighed about 40 lbs.

And this is Beau now. The day after his 1st birthday!! I haven't weighed him recently, but I know he's got to be over 100 lbs. He's my big-ol-boy!!....and handsome too!

More predictions

Not that I believe in old wives' tales, but I thought this was kinda fun.

Old Wives' Tales
These are the best of the best of old wives' tales and pregnancy folklore. Some may give accurate results and some are just plain silly. Here goes!

Pick up a single key. If you pick it up by the round part you will have a boy. If you pick up the long narrow part you will have a girl. If you pick it up in the middle twins are on the way! **girl**

The Mayans determined the sex of the baby by taking the mother's age at conception, and the year of conception. If both numbers are even or both are odd then it's a girl; if one number is even and one odd then it's a boy. (26, 2006) **girl**

Eat a clove of raw garlic. If the smell of garlic seeps out of your pores, it's a boy. If no garlic smell is detected at all, it's a girl. This test is not for the faint of heart or stomach for that matter. Well, can you eat a clove of garlic? **no thanks!!**

If your legs resemble tree trunks, it's a boy. If they're trim and fit, it's a girl. **girl** ((shrug)) what can I say, when you have legs up to your neck, it takes a long time for them to collect fat! LOL

If you crave the heels of the bread, you will have a boy. If you like the middle, a girl is on the way. **girl**

If your hands start to get dry and chapped, it will be a boy; but if your hands are softer during pregnancy, you will have a girl. **girl**

If you can't tell you're pregnant from the back, you're having a boy. If you look pregnant all over and from every angle, it's a girl. **boy**

A craving for salty foods is a sure sign of a boy, and craving sweets is a sign that a girl is on the way. **boy** (notice the 'sure sign')

If you experience increased acne break out on the face and chest you will have a girl. **girl** unfortunately for me and those that have to look at me! Although for some strange reason it's managed to keep itself contained to one side of my face and neck!?!? More information than anyone wanted I'm sure! LOL

Here is an experiment straight from Baby Predicting 101. . . urinate in a glass or jar with a tablespoon of Drain-O in it. If the mixture is green you will have a girl; if the mixture is blue, you will have a boy. **no Drain-O**

Suspend a wedding ring on a chain over your belly. If it swings back and forth, it's a girl. If it swings around in circles, it's a boy. **didn't try**

If a toddler boy shows interest in a pregnant woman, the mom-to-be is going to have a girl. If he ignores the pregnant woman, she will have a boy. **girl** my little man loves me!!

Which side do you lie on when you are resting? If it's the left, then it's a boy. If you're more comfortable on your right side then it's a girl. **girl**

When someone asks to see your hand, if you show them palms up, it's a girl; palms down, a boy. **boy**

Girl - 8
Boy - 3 + 1 bonus point for the 'sure sign' ;)

Just a little Easter Humor

*sorry it's a little blurry.

Halfway!

Well, I have 140 days under my belt (or rather, OVER my belt ;) ) and 140 left!!! I am so excited that it has actually gone by fairly fast. Especially when I compare to the last two. It's amazing what being up and able to function can do to affect the speed of time.
Well yesterday I went with Johnny again to help him with an on site job that he had. He just had to repair some drop boxes for an outreach center and the kids and I were along to 'help' him paint them. One of the boxes happened to be near a 'Once Upon a Child' store and I asked him if he would drop me off there and I could just walk over to where he was when I was done. I was just looking around since I'm not 100% sure that what I'm having is a girl (even though Johnny is!).
Well, I did find one piece and was pretty excited about it, since it's SO cute and can be used for either a boy or a girl. Here it is. Tell me what you think. Check out the cuffs!

I admit, it looks a little more 'girly', but it's still cute!!!

Well????..............What IS 'it'???

Are you all ready for this??

We don't know for sure!!! Isn't that frustrating!? It is for me. We didn't see any 'boy parts', but the cord was in the way, so we didn't see much of anything! We're GUESSING girl, but I'm not going to plan anything yet. I may have another ultrasound done, but we'll have to see.

Sorry for the disappointment. Believe me, I feel it too!!

Keep checkin', we'll see what transpires.

On a happier note, it seems that everything is as is should be, so for that I am VERY grateful!!

Tonight's the Night

Well, this is your last chance to 'vote'. I am going in tonight at 5 for my ultrasound. Please pray that all is well and that we'll be able to see what we're looking for! LOL

I guess that's about all I have for today! I'll post later on with the NEWS!!!
