Well, I actually did it. I bit the bullet and hired a baby-sitter for last night so Johnny and I could go out!! (which is really sad, if you think about all of his family that's around, but that's a story for another time). Anywho, I got my house all cleaned up yesterday and then took a shower, got dressed and put my make-up on, all the way down to lipstick. Did you get that people?? LIPSTICK!! ME!! Now if you don't know me all that well, you won't get that, but for those of you who do know me, you know that is not something that I normally do. So, needless to say I thought I was lookin' p.r.e.t.t.y. good! I even asked Cheyenne how I looked and she said, "Good!" Well, that lasted about 45 minutes. That is, until the babysitter got here. Her mom was kind enough to bring her over so I wouldn't have to load the kids up and go get her, but I'm thinkin' I may just want to take that extra step to save myself some frustration. As SOON as she saw me, she said, "Well, your belly is really starting to protrude." PROTRUDE people!!!! Who tells a pregnant woman that?!?! I'll tell you who! The same woman that had the nerve to tell me at 15 weeks that I was looking a little FAT. (and that's after losing 16 pounds! What did she think BEFORE!?!? ((shudder)) I don't even want to know!) Oh well, I just laughed and replied, "oh, no, that's just something I've had ever since Travis was born! :-]" And she said, "Oh! Well, I guess I should say a little fatt-ER." Now isn't she just a little piece of sunshine on a rainy day?!
Well, I tried hard not to think about it too much and when I saw Johnny he erased all my doubts! "Wow! You look really good!" Ah, just what I needed to hear. Thanks honey! You're the best! I don't think it hurt that ALL maternity clothes are a little low cut and this particular shirt already had an undershirt so I didn't bother with another one, but guys will be guys and he told me what I needed to hear, so all's well that ends well!
All of that to say this: I had a great time (even though I was exhausted from the day and I'm afraid I wasn't very entertaining company, but hey, the shirt was low-cut, so I think he was okay with the quiet! LOL)! It was so nice to be able to get out of the house without my beloved children along asking a million and one questions all the way to town or arguing about something or ... just being kids. It was just what I needed after 3 very long weeks with them and without my husband around much. Hopefully things will get into more of a predictable routine again after next week, but if not, I have my once a week date night to look forward to. (Mind you, I'm not sure about the whole 'mom dropping the baby-sitter off' thing, but we'll work through that too!) It would be different if she could just drop her off and LEAVE, but she's not that type. She has to come in and 'investigate' or something. Basically just be nosey. Oh and provide all of the encouragement she can!! Who wouldn't look forward to a weekly visit from my real life 'Rachel Lind'?!
Have a blessed weekend y'all. I'm gonna see if I can't find me a wheel barrow to haul my belly in for the next 3 1/2 months!

Oh my word. It just keeps on a-comin' doesn't it? What are these people thinking??? They must have major issues with their own bodies. IMO you look fabulous! I think you're gorgeous, pregnant or not. I'm glad you were able to get away and can look forward to something fun each and every week. It makes a world of difference. Love ya!
You totally crack me up!!! The whole time I was reading that I was thinking, I hope this lady doesn't read her blog!!! =) Anyway, yes, people do put there noses in places where they really shouldn't be, but it sounds like you've kept a pretty good attitude through it all. Next time someone says something like that, you should say, "At least my baby and I are completely healthy!" You could still be in bed staring at the ceiling.
That's great that you got to have a date night! Maybe you should check other sources for babysitters!
By the way, I sure would like to see some pictures of this so called "huge" belly!
UNBELIEVABLE! I'm actually kind of hoping that lady DOES read your blog... maybe then she'd get an idea of what is and is not appropriate to say, to ANYONE, pregnant or not! Amy, you certainly have more patience and acted more graciously than I.
It's funny, I was just talking with Sarah this weekend about how annoying people are about baby stuff. I do not have kids yet (a fact I'm sure you are aware of) but for some reason, people think it's their business to ask me questions like "So, when are you guys having kids?" or "Got any babies on the way yet?" or the worst yet has been "Are you guys having trouble getting pregnant?" I've thought about having kids just to get people off my back (Kidding) But if your experiences are what I have to expect, then I'll think twice! ;) People have nerve! It's amazing that Jesus lovest them all. :)
The blurb about the low neckline really cracked me up! :) You're beautiful, Amy. Don't let some idiot make you feel otherwise.
AMEN to Ruth's last paragraph!!!
